Jobs that pay up to ₦400,000 a month in Nigeria without a degree
Can you earn ₦250,000 to ₦400,000 a month in Nigeria without a university degree? Some job ads say yes. We checked the first results pages on Jobberman on 21 October 2026 and found four kinds of work where ads in the ₦250,000–₦400,000 band accept SSCE, OND or a trade certificate. The catch is the same in every case: two to three years of experience.
The short answer: the top band is real but it is earned. Start in an entry role at ₦70,000–₦150,000, build two or three years of hands-on experience, then apply for the higher band.
4 kinds of work with ads up to ₦400,000
| Job | Top ad band | What that ad asked for |
|---|---|---|
| Factory machine operator | ₦250k–₦400k | SSCE/OND or technical qualification, 3 years (Abia) |
| Electrician | ₦250k–₦400k | OND/HND or trade qualification, 2 years (Abia) |
| Truck driver | ₦250k–₦400k | OND, 3 years commercial trucks (Lagos, contract) |
| Recycling machine operator | ₦200k–₦300k | SSCE/OND, 2–5 years on shredders (Lagos) |
Sales can also reach ₦250,000–₦400,000, but the ads we read at that level asked for HND or a degree. See the sales guide.
What these jobs have in common
- A skill you can prove: a licence, a trade test certificate or a record of machines you have run.
- Experience: almost every ad at this level wanted two or three years.
- Read the full ad: several ads say “Degree” in the summary but accept SSCE or OND in the full text.
How to get there from an entry job
- Pick a path: machines, electrical work, driving or recycling.
- Take an entry role in that field, even at ₦70,000–₦150,000.
- Get proof: a trade test grade, a licence class or a reference letter listing your skills.
- After two years, apply for the higher band and show that proof on your CV. Our CV guide shows how.
A warning about “high pay, no experience”
Ads promising ₦400,000 for no experience and “simple work” are a common lure. Real employers never ask you to pay to apply. See the 10 warning signs.
